The Old Cemetery is a very tranquil place, a great venue to seek solace from the tourist buzz. Strolling along its narrow, winding paths and listening to the rustle of birch trees, you will feel the peaceful ambience of this lovely place. The graves are unique, they look like little garden plots rather than typical granite slabs, and are adorned with beautifully carved wooden crosses and sculptures. Among other prominent figures, Stanislaw Witkiewicz, the father of the Zakopane style, is buried here. The entrance to the graveyard is just behind St. Clement’s.
